My name is Klaudia
The eye lady
My name is Klaudia Nowicka, and I am a qualified optometrist and orthoptist — in other words, the specialist for eyes with all kinds of visual dysfunctions.
My calling to work with children emerged very early. Back in my primary school in Toruń, vision problems were an inseparable part of the integration class I attended. An interest in eyesight and working with children are part of my everyday life, which is why, after finishing my studies, I returned to the city where it all began.
The knowledge gained at numerous training courses and conferences, together with my experience in vision therapy with children, allows me to combine the two specialisations of the single field I represent. Every exercise plan I draw up is preceded by an assessment of the child’s functional vision, so that I can be sure of the stage at which we are beginning therapy.
In the exercises I conduct — depending on the type of problem and the abilities of the young patient — I aim to provide varied stimulation and therapy of the visual system, drawing on both optometric and orthoptic methods. During sessions I am very happy to combine both methods with sensory stimulation, because our sight is not only the eyes, but also the brain and the child’s posture.
